Vixens fall in finale to Royals

HARRISONBURG, Va. — The Sweet Briar soccer team wrapped up the 2019 season on Saturday afternoon, dropping an 8-0 decision to host Eastern Mennonite, despite a 14-save performance by first-year goalkeeper Katelyn Meyer.

Eastern Mennonite (10-6-1, 4-5-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) scored the matchwinner in the second minute, as Lily Dodson assisted on a Leigh Lumsden tally.

Sweet Briar (0-16-1, 0-10-0) surrendered four goals in each half of Saturday's match at the EMU Turf Field.

Meyer (Smithsburg, Md.) finished with 14 saves, the 10th double-digit saves performance of her season and third-straight match with 12 or more saves.

Saturday marked the conclusion of the 2019 season for the Sweet Briar soccer program.
