The Cyclones (2-3) went on the offensive from the opening whistle, firing a shot high in the second minute, before Jordan Vandermark assisted on a goal from Lucienne Wolfson.
Sweet Briar's (0-4) first shot of the game came in the 11th minute where junior

Maggie Groetsch (Asheville, N.C.).
Austin's first save came in the 20th minute off a shot by Wolfson. Sweet Briar looked to breakthrough with a pair of shots in the 22nd minute, with Jones' attempt blocked and first-year Ingrid Kalwitz-Blanco (Antofagasta, Chile) seeing her shot miss wide of the goal.
The fourth period of play saw two shots from the Vixens blocked by the Cyclone defense, the first try by first-year
Colleen Goodly (Yorktown, Va.) and the second by sophomore
