SWEET BRIAR, Va. — First-year goalkeeper
Katelyn Meyer made a season high 18 saves on Saturday as Sweet Briar fell 4-0 at home to Piedmont International.
The Bruins (4-3-1) scored the eventual match winner in the 10th minute when Cierra Josey assisted on a goal from Adellah McManus.
Sweet Briar (0-5-0) looked to answer immediately, when senior
Lacey Tucker (Swansboro, N.C.) forced Piedmont International goalkeeper Ericka Washburn into a save.
The Bruins scored a second goal in the 30th minute, before adding a third and fourth in the 49th and 50th minutes, respectively.
Neither team was able to break through in the final 40 minutes of play, with the Bruins securing a 4-0 road victory at the conclusion of the match.
Tucker and senior
Victoria Lawson (Shipman, Va.) both recorded a shot on goal in the match, while sophomore
Shay Young-Mitchell (Silver Spring, Md.) took one shot on the day.
Meyer (Smithsburg, Md.) made 18 saves on the day, tallying nine in each half.
Sweet Briar plays host to William Peace on September 25 with a 4:30 p.m. kickoff scheduled, before the Vixens' ODAC opener on September 28 at Guilford.
