Meyer tallies season-high 18 saves as Vixens host Bruins

SWEET BRIAR, Va. — First-year goalkeeper Katelyn Meyer made a season high 18 saves on Saturday as Sweet Briar fell 4-0 at home to Piedmont International.

The Bruins (4-3-1) scored the eventual match winner in the 10th minute when Cierra Josey assisted on a goal from Adellah McManus.

Sweet Briar (0-5-0) looked to answer immediately, when senior Lacey Tucker (Swansboro, N.C.) forced Piedmont International goalkeeper Ericka Washburn into a save.

The Bruins scored a second goal in the 30th minute, before adding a third and fourth in the 49th and 50th minutes, respectively.

Neither team was able to break through in the final 40 minutes of play, with the Bruins securing a 4-0 road victory at the conclusion of the match.

Tucker and senior Victoria Lawson (Shipman, Va.) both recorded a shot on goal in the match, while sophomore Shay Young-Mitchell (Silver Spring, Md.) took one shot on the day.

Meyer (Smithsburg, Md.) made 18 saves on the day, tallying nine in each half.
