FERRUM, Va. – Sweet Briar swimming (3-0, 1-0 ODAC) earned two victories over the Ferrum Panthers and the Greensboro Pride (0-3) by scores of 117-65 and 137-24, respectively, to remain undefeated.
The Vixens kicked off the tri-meet with a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Junior
Peyton Murphy (Norfolk, Va.), sophomores
Kass Carpenter (Mechanicsville, Va.) and
Devin Montgomery (San Antonio, Texas) and first-year
Mary Catherine Warner (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished the race with a time of 2:11.11.
Carpenter followed the relay performance by finishing first in the 1000-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke with times of 12:42.60 and 1:10.56.
First-year
Acadia ElzHowe (Georgetown, Texas) finished the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.32, nearly 20 seconds head of the second-place finisher from Ferrum.
Montgomery earned her second first place finish of the night in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.29.
Sweet Briar finished one, two and three in the 100-yard freestyle thanks for times of 1:00.40, 1:06.88 and 1:07.88 from Murphy, senior
Rachael Mills (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) and junior
Elizabeth Sanford (Charlotte, N.C.).
The Vixens closed out the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay after completing the race in 1.58:00.
