SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar NCEA Team (1-2) came up short against Bridgewater in its first home meet of the season by a score of 5-3.
In fences competition both teams claimed two points to even out the score. First-years
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and Paige Kennedy each earned points for the Vixens on Phantom and Asher with scores of 75 and 72, respectively.
Also competing well was sophomore
Rachel Perry (Rockville, Va.) who scored 30 points higher than her Bridgewater counterpart in her exhibition ride on Jetson.
Sophomore
Nina Hugi (Chicago, Ill.) and first-year
Ella Peterson (Ashland, Va.) had demo rides for Sweet Briar in flat while Atherton earned three more points than her competitor in her exhibition with Harrison.
Perry earned the lone point for the Vixens in flat competition with a 73.5 on Emmett.
Sophomore
Emmy Longest (Hanover, Va.) finished the day with a 75 in fences on Dorado and with a 56 in flat on Bella. Meanwhile, senior
Britt Larson-Jackson (Washington, D.C.) totaled a 72 with Cardino and a 71 with Jakson in flat and fences, respectively.
Highlights
- This marks Perry's second point of the season for the Vixens in flat and Kennedy's second in fences after earning points with a scores of 85 and 82, respectively, against Lynchburg.
- Atherton earned her point in fences in her first career NCEA meet.
