SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar NCEA team (2-2) handily took down Sacred Heart (1-2) at the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center today 5-2, with first-year
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) being named Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) in both fences and flat.
The Vixens got captured a one-point lead after fences competition with Atherton scoring an 85 on Cardino over Lilly Bove's 60. Working with Phantom, sophomore
Emmy Longest (Hanover, Va.) bested Dani Derisio by two points.
Also competing well was senior
Britt Larson-Jackson (Washington, D.C.) who tied her Sacred Heart opponent on Dorado with a score of 78.
Atherton earned her second point of the day with a 77.5 on Emmett while Longest totaled an 84 with Mulligan.
Junior
Kacie Freeburg (Orlando, Fla.) also posted a point for Sweet Briar with a score of 66.
Highlights
- First-years Isabelle Mesiarik (Pottstown, Pa.) and Marran Vansickle (Powhatan, Va.) scored 52.5 and 57 in their exhibition rides, respectively.
- This marks the first time this season that a single Vixen has earned both MOP titles.
- Atherton has now earned two-straight points in fences.
