Bailey scores seven; WildCats top Vixens

LYNCHBURG, Va. — A seven-goal showing by sophomore Kaylah Bailey led Sweet Briar as the Vixens fell 20-15 at WildCat Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Randolph (2-2) scored the opening goal with 28:35 remaining in the opening half when Sophia Cirone found the back of the net for the WildCats.

Sweet Briar (1-7) answered with three-straight goals, as Bailey opened the scoring for the Vixens thanks to an assist from junior Sarah Schindler with 26:57 left in the first half.

First-year Jess Roberts scored less than a minute later to give Sweet Briar a 2-1 lead before first-year Jamison Tarver added another goal for the Vixens off an assist from first-year Jamison Tarver.

Randolph scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at 3-3, but the Vixens broke the tie as Roberts added her second goal of the game with 19:50 left in the first period.

The scoreline seesawed back-and-forth as senior Caylin Newman scored to take the scoreline to 5-4 in the Vixens' favor. Randolph's Molly McNair tied the game at 5-5, only to see the Vixens regain the lead as Roberts assisted on a Southard goal with 13:02 left on the first-half clock.

Randolph followed Southard's goal with a six-goal run but saw its 11-6 lead narrow to 11-7 when Schindler scored for the Vixens with 11 seconds left in the opening period.

The second half opened with back-and-forth scoring when Southard scored with 26:26 left in regulation. Bailey assisted on Southard's second tally of the second half before Bailey scored the Vixens' next six goals.

Bailey rattled off four-straight goals starting at the 15:33 mark before Randolph's Sarah Perry scored four-straight of her own.

The final two minutes of play saw Cirone and Bailey trade goals as the WildCats wrapped up the 20-15 home victory.
