FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The No. 2 Sweet Briar NCEA team (2-1, 2-1 ECAC) swept Most Outstanding Performer honors in its 9-1 victory over the Sacred Heart Pioneers (0-1) today.
The Vixens swept the flat competition, earning all five available points. Sophomore
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) earned her first MOP title of the season with an 82 on Vertigo.
First-year
Wyette Felton (Canton, Ga.) took down her Pioneer competitor by 19 points with a 78 while senior
Kacie Freeburg (Orlando, Fla.) recorded a 75.
Rounding out the flat portion of the meet for Sweet Briar were junior
Emmy Longest (Hanover, Va.) and sophomore
Ella Peterson (Ashland, Va.) who recorded scores of 79 and 76, respectively.
Sophomore
Isabelle Mesiarik (Pottstown, Pa.) had the highest score of the meet, earning an 83 on Opie and receiving the MOP title. Both Felton and Longest were close behind her, with scores of 82 and 80, respectively.
Recoding the fourth point in fences for the Vixens and helping the team complete the 9-1 victory was Atherton, whose 69 on Vertigo topped her Sacred Heart opponent by nine points.
