SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Sweet Briar field hockey (7-9, 2-3 CSAC) dropped a heartbreaker to conference opponents Cedar Crest (8-8, 4-2 CSAC) today, falling by a score of 3-2.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Vixens quickly went up 2-0 in the second thanks to goals from junior
Avery Jones (Union, Conn.) and senior
Ingrid Kalwitz Blanco (Antofagasta, Chile).
The Falcons mounted a comeback in the second half of the game, scoring the lone third-quarter goal and adding two more to the tally to put the score at 3-2 with less than five minutes left in the game to take home the win.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) recorded six saves in the game.

- Kalwitz Blanco picked up an additional point with the assist on Jones' goal.
