LEXINGTON, Va. – Sweet Briar tennis (23-3, 9-1 ODAC) will be heading to its second-straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship match after taking down the Lynchburg Hornets (17-3, 7-2) 5-0.
The Vixens got off to a great start in doubles play with the duo of Wandling/Guilarte defeating E.Teefy/G.Teefy at the No. 2 slot, 8-4. At No. 1 doubles, de Souza/Patino battled it out against Harris/Pascadlo to earn an 8-7 (7-1) victory. Caro/Simhambhatla completed the doubles sleep for Sweet Briar with a hard-fought 8-7 (7-5) victory of their own in thrilling fashion.
In singles play, the Vixens came up with a quick 4-0 lead after first-year
Ana Patino's (Medellín, Colombia) opponent retired from the match in the first set.
The decisive fifth victory came from junior
Allison Wandling (Mechanicsville, Va.) who took down Alissa Anderson 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 4 position.

Ruth de Souza (Marilia, Brazil) and sophomore
Isabela Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) had both won their first sets by scores of 6-5 and 6-1, respectively when Sweet Briar earned its fifth point.

Sofia Andrade (Latacunga, Ecuador) was up 1-0 in set two after falling 4-6 in the first, while junior
Kate Kotany (Erd, Hungary) had yet to start her No. 6 singles match due to court availability indoors.
