WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Sweet Briar College soccer team (4-7-1) earned the season sweep over the Trinity Washington University Tigers (0-11-0) today thanks to a 9-0 victory on the road.
First-year
Emily Michel (Centennial, Colo.) got the scoring started for the Vixens with a goal a little over 11 minutes into the contest.
Sophomore
Victoria Schofield (Towson, Md.) tallied the first of her career at the 14:54 mark to increase the lead to two.
Consecutive goals by junior
Jillian Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) and Michel within the next 10 minutes of play would bring the score to 4-0.
Senior
Jadyn Baker's (Morristown, Tenn.) first of her career at the 32:7 mark would put Sweet Briar up 5-0.
With time winding down in the first half of play, junior
Emma Wilk (Roxbury, N.J.) put one in the back of the net to bring the score to 6-0.
In the second half, Michel would tally two more at 61:37 and 85:26, while junior
Trista Cleaves (Millville, N.J.) would score the first goal of her career to give the Vixens the eventual 9-0 victory.
Both Cleaves and sophomore
Liz Carr (Charlottesville, Va.) split time in goal.
Highlights
- Michel's four goals are the most she has scored in a single game in her career.
- Cleaves led the team with eight shots on goal while both Michel and first-year Mia Viccora (Fairfax, Va.) had seven.
- The Vixens held the Tigers to zero shots on goal for the second time this season.
