SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The No. 2 single discipline Sweet Briar NCEA team (3-2, 3-1 ECAC) will look for redemption this week as it hosts No. 1 Lynchburg (4-2, 3-0 ECAC) at the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center on Friday, Feb. 10.
The Vixens fell to the Hornets in the first meet of the season with senior Kacie Freeburg (Orlando, Fla.), junior Emmy Longest (Hanover, Va.) and sophomores Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and Isabelle Mesiarik (Pottstown, Pa.) all scoring points.
Sweet Briar is coming off a meet against Georgia which saw Atherton earn her point by beating out her Bulldogs competitor in fences competition by 49 points.
What to Know
- Last time out against Lynchburg, Freeburg was named Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) in flat competition thanks to her 83 on Ruffino.
- Friday will mark the first time that the two teams will meet at the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center.
- Atherton and first-year Wyette Felton (Canton, Ga.) are the reigning Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Fences and Flat Riders of the Week, respectively.
