COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Sweet Briar College tennis team (10-3, 5-0 ODAC) kicked off its Ohio road trip with a 9-0 victory over the Capital University Comets (6-3, 5-1 OAC) today at the Olympic Indoor Tennis Center.
The doubles team of Andrade/Patino took down Fletcher/Flock at the No. 1 flight by a score of 8-1 while Bovard/A. Guilarte and Bestwick/Chen defeated their opponents by scores of 8-2 at the No. 2 and No. 3 slots, respectively.
Both sophomore
Maria Caro (Bogota, Colombia) and
Alex Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) played sets where they did not concede a single game. Caro defeated Amy Wright-Lovell at the No. 3 spot by scores of 6-0, 6-1 while A. Guilarte took down Abby Hornacek, 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 4 flight.
First-years
Lucia Bovard (Mount Pleasant, N.C.) and
Isa Chen (Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil) saw action at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions, respectively. Bovard earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Rachel Smith while Chen got the win against Jenny Rollins by scores of 6-1, 6-1.
At the No. 1 flight, senior
Nikhita Simhambhatla (Hyderabad, Telangana, India) defeated Anna Fletcher, 6-2, 6-2. Junior
Isabela Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) helped the Vixens earn the clean sweep with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Nicole Flock at the No. 2 slot.

- Today marks Sweet Briar's seventh 9-0 sweep of the season.
- Both Bestwick/Chen and Bovard/A. Guilarte remain undefeated during the dual season with records of 3-0 and 4-0, respectively.
