SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team (1-2, 0-0 CSAC) fell to the Brevard Tornados (3-1, 0-0 USA South) at home today by a score of 18-5.
After the Tornados went up 2-0, the Vixens broke through with their first goal of the game. First-year
Sofia Martinez-Tomatis found the back of the net for the 12th goal of the season to cut Brevard's lead in half.
A five-goal scoring run to end the first would put the visiting team up 7-1. Sophomore
Valen Foster (Bushwood, Md.) took advantage of a woman-up opportunity at the beginning of the second to notch Sweet Briar's second of the game.
Martinez-Tomatis would tally her second of the game with time expiring in the second quarter of play to bring the score to 10-3.
Back-to-back goals from first-year
Victoria Schofield (Towson, Md.) and Martinez-Tomatis got five goals on the board for the Vixens, but Brevard's seven-goal scoring run to close out the game with the score at 18-5.
Junior goalkeeper
Kat Navarro (Carlsbad, Calif.) recorded a career-high 16 saves.
Highlights

- Junior Dani Peloso (Centreville, Va.) led the team with two ground balls.
