SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team (1-6, 0-2 CSAC) was overpowered by the Wilson College Phoenix (8-3, 1-0 CSAC) today, 22-1, in the team's return to Thayer Field.
The Phoenix dominated the first half of the game, going on a 13-0 run through the end of the second quarter.
The Vixens' lone goal came from first-year
Victoria Schofield (Towson, Md.). The Maryland native tallied an unassisted goal at the 14:47 mark in the third quarter to finally get Sweet Briar on the board.
However, Wilson would remain dominant to close out play with nine more goals for the 22-1 victory.
Both Schofield and sophomore
Mia Alcoba (Berlin, N.J.) led the team with two ground balls. Schofield and first-year
Megan Vess (Goodview, Va.) totaled a team-high two caused turnovers.
In goal, junior
Kat Navarro (Carlsbad, Calif.) recorded seven saves.
Highlights
- Alcoba led the team in ground ball pickups in only her third game in a Vixens uniform.
- Schofield won a career-high eight draw controls.
