SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team (1-9, 0-4) wrapped up the 2023 season against the Cedar Crest College Falcons (4-8, 1-4) today, honoring its lone senior

The Falcons tallied the first three goals of the game before the Vixens got on the board with back-to-back scores.
First-years
Victoria Schofield (Towson, Md.) and
Sofia Martinez-Tomatis (Santa Barbara, Calif.) both beat the Cedar Crest goaltender with unassisted tallies to bring the score to 3-2 at the end of the first quarter.
With only three goals scored by the visiting team during the second quarter of play, the Falcons were head 6-2 entering the half.
Cedar Crest began to pull away in the third scoring five goals before first-year
Ashley Prevet (Nesconset, N.Y.) tallied Sweet Briar's first in nearly 24 minutes.
Two more goals from the Falcons would increase their lead to nine heading into the final quarter of play.
The Vixens opened up the scoring in the fourth quarter with Martinez-Tomatis' second of the game as well as a tally from junior Renée Taylor.
Cedar Crest would score two more, but the game would come to a close with Schofield's second of the day with 15 seconds remaining in play to bring the score to 14-6.
Junior goalkeeper
Kat Navarro (Carlsbad, Calif.) totaled 13 saves and four ground balls on the day.
Fellow junior
Jamison Tarver (Kingwood, Texas) led the team with four ground balls and three caused turnovers while Taylor also recorded three caused turnovers.
Highlights
- Prevet's goal in the third quarter was the first of her career.
- Schofield won a total of 10 draw controls, the most out of anyone out on the field.
