SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Sweet Briar College is proud to announce the hiring of Assistant Athletic Trainer, Hailey Chufar, to the athletic training staff. Chufar will begin her time at Sweet Briar on Aug. 1.
On the hiring, Director of Athletics Jason Vittone remarked, "We are happy to welcome Hailey to the Sweet Briar family. We are also excited to be adding another ATC to our Sports Medicine team. The health, safety and well-being of our student-athletes is imperative, and this is another great step in the right direction at SBC."
Chufar comes to Sweet Briar from the University of Arkansas, an NCAA Division I institution, where she was a Graduate Assistant Certified Athletic Trainer. While with the Razorbacks, Chufar was the main athletic trainer for the swim and dive team, handling everything from practice preparation to medical coverage to injury prevention and rehabilitation and beyond.
While in Fayetteville, Chufar also worked closely with the baseball and women's tennis teams and cared for the gymnastics, spirit squads, soccer and volleyball programs. Chufar also earned experience in working with sports camps, conditioning/weight training sessions and EKG setup and execution.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to grow and provide high-quality care to the athletes at Sweet Briar College," stated Chufar. "I'm most looking forward to getting to pursue my passion in working with women's teams in college athletics."
Before her time at Arkansas, Chufar gained valuable undergraduate experience with the Washington State University women's volleyball and basketball teams, Lewis and Clark State College, Inland Orthopedic, Pullman High School, ProFormance Physical Therapy and the University of Washington football program.
Chufar graduated with her degree in Athletic Training with a minor in Psychology from Washington State University in 2021 before going on to complete Master of Education in Recreation and Sports Management from the University of Arkansas in May.
