SALISBURY, Md. – The Sweet Briar College tennis team (1-0, 0-0 ODAC) earned a decisive 5-2 victory against the No. 48 Salisbury University Seagulls (0-1, 0-0 C2C) this morning to open up dual-match action.
The Vixens took all three doubles matches to being the match with a 1-0 lead.
Both A. Guilarte/Lima and Caro/Guilarte defeated their opponents, 6-2, at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively.
Rounding out the doubles victories was the duo of Bovard/Caracciolo who earned a 6-4 win over Lake/Raab.
In singles play, three matches were won in straight sets. Senior
Maria Caro (Bogota, Colombia) took down Lily Muir, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 while sophomore
Juli Caracciolo (Los Cardales, Argentina) earned a No. 4 singles win over Ridgley Lake, 6-1, 6-2.
Sophomore
Isadora Lima (Natal, Brazil) also earned a straight-set 6-2, 6-4 win against Katherine Rabb at the No. 5 spot.
At the No. 2 slot, junior
Alex Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) defeated Olivia Hall, 6-7, 7-5, 6-2 to help round out the 5-2 win for Sweet Briar.

- Both Caro and Minton are perfect in their career singles matches against the Seagulls.
- The doubles teams of A. Guilarte/Lima and Bovard/Caracciolo won their matches today in their first outings as a pairing.
