HAMPDEN SYDNEY, Va. – The Sweet Briar College swim team (1-5, 0-5 ODAC) kicked off back-to-back meets this evening with action against the Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jackets (2-1, 0-0 ODAC) at Hampden-Sydney College. The Vixens fell to the Yellow Jackets by a score of 169-30.
Sweet Briar kicked the meet off with a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter medley relay. The relay team of senior
Mary Catherine Warner (Virginia Beach, Va.), sophomore
Ella Scherrer (Simpsonville, S.C.), first-year
Geneva Seitz (Havre de Grace, Md.) and senior
Jillian Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) combined for a time of 2:35.00.
First-year
Emily Carter (Beckley, W. Va.) also earned fourth in 800-meter freestyle thanks to her time of 14:04.64.
Both Seitz and sophomore
Amara Clancey (Harrisonburg, Va.) competed in the 200-meter freestyle relay and finished in fourth and fifth, respectively. The duo recorded new personal personal-best times as Seitz touched the wall at the 2:49.31 mark and Clancey at 2:56.68.
Warner and first-year
Carlee Minyard (Jacksonville, Fla.) finished back-to-back in the 50-meter freestyle while Lewis placed second in the 100-meter IM with a time of 1:19.26.
Lewis also placed fourth in the 100-meter freestyle followed by Scherrer in fifth and Minyard in sixth. Sweet Briar also rounded out the 50-meter backstroke as Warner, Seitz and Carter placed fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
Clancey was the lone Vixen in the 400-meter freestyle and recorded a time of 6:34.58 in her first appearance in the event.
The night wrapped up with Scherrer, Carter, Clancey and Warner coming together for a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay.
Highlights
- Tonight marked the first 800-meter freestyle event of Carter's collegiate career.
- First-year Karissa Boyce (Red Rock, Texas) recorded a personal-best time of 1:10.14 in the 50-meter breaststroke.

The Vixens will head to Hollins tomorrow for a tri-meet along with Guilford.
