CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Sweet Briar College Tennis team (4-0, 2-0 ODAC) racked up stellar singles performances to earn the program's first victory over the Washington College Shorewomen (1-2, 0-0 CC) by a score of 7-2.
The No. 1 doubles pairing of A. Guilarte/Patino took down Kading/Namunyola, 8-6, bring the score to 1-2 following the conclusion of doubles.
However, the Vixens battled back to take all six singles points and eventually earn the 7-2 victory and remain undefeated to start the season.
Both senior
Isabela Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and junior
Maria Caro (Bogota, Colombia) won their matches by set scores of 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 1 and No. 4 spots, respectively.
At the No. 2 singles slot, junior
Ana Patino (Medellín, Colombia) defeated Eva Kading, 7-5, 6-2 while first-year
Juli Caracciolo (Los Cardales, Argentina) earned a decisive 6-3, 6-3 win over Carrie Lord at the No. 5 position.
Sophomore
Alex Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) bounced back from a first set loss in the tiebreak (6-7 (2-7)) to take the next two sets, 6-2, 7-6 (9-7), over Soleil Namunyola for the No. 3 singles victory.

Isadora Lima (Natal, Brazil) who won her match by a walkover.
Highlights
- This marks the first time in program history that Sweet Briar has defeated Washington College.
- The team's 4-0 start is the best start to a season since the program went 7-0 to kick off the 2010-11 campaign.
