SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team (2-9) was blanked by the Ferrum College Panthers (10-4, 4-3 ODAC) this evening at Meyer Field, falling by a score of 15-0 following the conclusion of three-quarters of play.
The Panthers started the scoring off early; tallying the first goal of the game a little over 10 seconds into action.
Eight more goals by the visitors would follow to give them the 9-0 lead heading into the second quarter.
The Vixens' defensive would buckle down in the second with another six-save performance while only allowing Ferrum to tack on four more to its total for the 13-0 lead at halftime.
A two-goal third quarter by the Panthers and the early conclusion of the game following the completion of 45 minutes would see the visitors take home the 15-0 win.
Senior
Kat Navarro (Carlsbad, Calif.) got the start in goal and recorded six saves through 15 minutes of action.
Highlights
- First-year Lizzie Mehl (Richmond Hill, Ga.) recorded eight saves after coming into the game at the start of the second quarter.
- Both Mehl and senior Renée Taylor (York, Pa.) totaled two ground balls while three Vixens earned caused turnovers.
