SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team (3-10) closed out the 2024 season this evening with an 11-4 win over the Trinity Washington University Tigers (0-10).
Junior
Valen Foster (Bushwood, Md.) tallied the first to goals of the game within the first four minutes of action to give the Vixens the 2-0 lead.
A goal from the Tigers a little over two minutes later cut Sweet Briar's lead in half.
However, the team answered back with three-straight as sophomores
Victoria Schofield (Towson, Md.) found the back of the net twice and
Ashley Prevet (Nesconset, N.Y.) scored off a pass from Schofield to go up 5-1.
Another tally from Trinity Washington brought the game to 5-2 following the completion of the first quarter of action.
In the second, the Vixens once again started the scoring off with Schofield tallying two and Prevet adding one more to her total.
The quarter closed out with the Tigers scoring back-to-back goals for an 8-4 score line heading into halftime.
It was all Sweet Briar in the third and final quarter of play as junior
Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) tallied her first of the game followed by a pair from Foster to wrap action up in the favor of the Vixens, 11-4.
In goal, senior
Kat Navarro (Carlsbad, Calif.) recorded two saves.
Highlights
- Both Foster and Schofield led the team with six points after scoring four goals and recording two assists each.
- Prevet led the team in assists with three.
- Schofield also led the team with six draw controls and three caused turnovers while junior Trista Cleaves (Millville, N.J.) totaled three ground balls.
What's Next
The Vixens will now look ahead to the 2025 season.
