SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College soccer team (2-1-0, 0-0-0 ODAC) earned a dominating 11-0 victory over the Trinity Washington University Tiger (0-4-0) in this evening's 2024 home opener at Meyer Field.
The Vixens started the scoring off early with first-year
Yadira Castrejon (Connelly Springs, N.C.) getting the team on the board just three minutes into play.
Castrejon's goal was followed up by tallies from sophomore
Alexis Diaz (Connelly Springs, N.C.), junior
Victoria Schofield (Towson, Md.), seniors
Jillian Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) and
Emma Wilk (Roxbury, N.J.) and sophomore
Emily Michel (Centennial, Colo.) all before the halfway mark of the first half.
Castrejon tallied her second of the game with a little of ten minutes to play in the first to put Sweet Briar up 7-0 at halftime.
In the second half of the game, the Vixens controlled the tempo and added to their lead with a goal from senior
Natalie Cockey (Oxford, Md.).
With the score at 8-0, Michel took a corner kick and found first-year
Maddie Ickes (Powhatan, Va.) in front of the goal to bring the score to 9-0.
Sophomore
Elise Bennett (Louisa, Va.) also tallied a goal at the 75' mark off a corner kick set play while first-year
Grady O'Donnell (Richmond, Va.) brought the score to 11-0 with her goal at 84:32.
The final five minutes of the game went scoreless to bring it to an 11-0 close.

- Tonight's matchup marked the first career start for O'Donnell.
- Sweet Briar's 11-goal win margin is the highest against Trinity Washington in program history.
