LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Sweet Briar College swim team (2-8, 1-7 ODAC) kicked off action in 2025 with a tri-meet hosted by the Randolph College WildCats (5-3, 2-2 ODAC) along with the William Peace University Pacers (7-2).
First-year
Geneva Seitz (Havre de Grace, Md.) got things started for the Vixens with a third-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle.
In the 200-yard freestyle, senior
Jillian Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) placed fourth with a time of 2:23.71 while sophomore
Ella Scherrer (Simpsonville, S.C.) and first-year
Emily Carter (Beckley, W. Va.) placed eighth with times of 2:31.87 and 2:43.32, respectively.
Both senior
Mary Catherine Warner (Virginia Beach, Va.) and first-year
Carlee Minyard (Jacksonville, Fla.) competed in the 50-yard freestyle. Warner recorded a time of 27.02 in her third-place finish and Minyard touched the wall at the 46.72 mark.
Seitz was the lone Sweet Briar competitor in the 100-yard butterfly and placed fourth with a personal-best time of 1:28.03. Also setting a new personal-best time was Minyard with a time of 1:41.78 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Warner earned a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke after touching the wall at the 1:08.43 mark for a new personal best while Carter earned a time of 1:25.16.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Scherrer earned a time of 6:56.13 to place fifth.
Lewis captured a first-place finish for the Vixens in the 100-yard breaststroke. The Maryland native's time of 1:15.22 saw her finishing over three seconds ahead of the rest of her competitors.
The meet wrapped up with Sweet Briar's victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Warner, Scherrer, Seitz and Lewis combined for a time of 1:56.91.

The Vixens will return home to take on Bridgewater to conclude the regular season on Jan. 25th.
