SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College swim team (2-9, 1-8 ODAC) honored its seniors and wrapped up the regular season at home, falling to the Bridgewater College Eagles (6-1, 3-1 ODAC), 47-189.
The Vixens started the meet with a third-place finish in the 200-meter medley relay before first-year
Emily Carter (Beckley, W. Va.) went on to finish second in the 800-meter freestyle with a personal-best time of 13:04.43.
Senior
Mary Catherine Warner (Virginia Beach, Va.) placed fourth in the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 35.75 in her first individual event of the meet.
In the 50-meter breaststroke, senior
Jillian Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) placed second while first-year
Carlee Minyard (Jacksonville, Fla.) took home fifth. Both swimmers earned personal best times of 39.46 and 1:11.26, respectively.
Warner and Minyard represented Sweet Briar in the 50-meter freestyle with Warner's season-best time of 30.42 earning her third place and Minyard touching the wall at the 53.17 mark to place fifth.
First-year
Geneva Seitz (Havre de Grace, Md.) and Minyard took on the 100-meter freestyle and marked new personal bests. Seitz completed the race in 1:19.05 while Minyard finished right behind her in fifth.
Carter was the lone Vixen in the 200-meter backstroke and placed third with a personal-best time of 3:22.35.
Lewis also saw action in the 200-meter IM and placed third with a time of 2:54.18 while the 400-meter relay team went on to capture second to close out the final event of the day.
Highlights
- Lewis's personal-best time of 3:04.77 in the 200-meter breaststroke gave her the lone victory for Sweet Briar in today's meet.
- Both Seitz earned a personal-best time of 2:49.29 while Scherrer recorded a season-best time of 2:50.94 in the 200-meter freestyle.

The Vixens will head to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship, Feb. 12th-15th.
