ASHLAND, Va. – The Sweet Briar College swim team (0-6, 0-4 ODAC) was bested by the Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jackets (2-1-1, 1-0 ODAC) yesterday evening, 216-21.
In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of sophomore
Emily Carter (Kermit, W. Va.), junior
EJ Scherrer (Simpsonville, S.C.), sophomore
Geneva Seitz (Havre de Grace, Md.) and junior
Julia Elliott (Norfolk, Va.) completed the event with a time of 2:33.96, securing points for Sweet Briar. During the 200-yard freestyle, Seitz achieved fourth place, finishing in 2:32.43 and adding to Sweet Briar's score.
Carter was active across multiple events, placing fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:22.33, while first-year teammate
Ava Powers (Crandall, Texas) followed in fifth at 1:46.21. In the 100-yard breaststroke, sophomore
Carlee Minyard (Jacksonville, Fla.) recorded a time of 2:10.51, earning important points for her squad.
The 200-yard butterfly saw sophomore
Karissa Boyce (Red Rock, Texas) finish fourth with a time of 4:21.68. Moving to the sprints, Elliott took fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with 37.18, just ahead of first-year
Kylee Nickerson (Waterford, Mich.) at 39.23 and fellow first-year
Gracie Sheridan (Waynesboro, Va.) at 39.84. The 100-yard freestyle featured strong participation, as Scherrer (1:14.37) and Carter (1:17.00) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Powers clocked in at 1:30.68.
Boyce was again in action for Sweet Briar, taking fourth in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:56.53. Relay teams contributed key results as well; the Sweet Briar 200-yard freestyle relay, consisting of Nickerson, Carter, Elliott and Scherrer, completed in 2:20.59 to secure third place, while the second relay group finished in 2:42.17.

- Powers recorded a new personal best time in the 100-yard backstroke while Boyce clocked in the fastest time of her career in the 200-yard butterfly.
- Both Elliott and Sheridan beat their previous records in the 50-yard freestyle.
