RUSTBURG, Va. / SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College IHSA team saw action both at Liberty and at home this weekend, with shows yesterday and today.
 
At Liberty, Sweet Briar had a strong showing with first-years Hallie Nelson (Duette, Fla.) claiming first in open flat and Sadie Swift (Leonardtown, Md.) finishing second in both open flat and open fences. Fellow first-year Erin Patterson (Springfield, Va.) delivered a top performance by taking first in intermediate flat.
 
Senior Evelyn Clark (Crofton, Md.) stood out in limit fences, earning first place, while first-year Jillian Francis (Montgomery, Texas) placed third in limit flat. Senior Emma Evans (Chesapeake, Va.) and first-year Sophia Peterson (Ashland, Va.) both showed consistency in novice flat, finishing fourth and third, respectively.
 
Junior Kendel Wickline (Frederick, Md.) rounded out the day with a winning ride for first in the introductory class.
 
In the first home show of the year, Sweet Briar achieved High Point Team honors. Swift emerged as the High Point Rider, winning both her open flat and open fences classes, while fellow first-year Tessa Hawks (Ashland, Va.) was named Reserve High Point Rider after winning both her limit flat and limit fences classes.
 
First-year Josie Flannery (Orange, Va.) took first in open flat and second in open fences. Senior Sarah Pastula (Rockford, Mich.) grabbed first in intermediate fences, with first-year Sarah Chapin (Jamestown, N.C.) taking fourth in intermediate flat. Sophomore Emily Viger (Springfield, Va.)  finished third in limit flat while senior Caitlyn Uimari (Marquette, Mich.) claimed first in novice and Peterson added another first in her novice flat class.
 
Wickline placed second in introductory to round out the field of Vixen competitors.
 
Highlights

• Both Uimari and Wickline qualified for Regionals.
• Swift was named High Point Rider for the second time this season after also earning the honor at Christopher Newport.

 
What's Next
The Vixens will next compete at Randolph-Macon on Nov. 15th.
