SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College swim team (0-5, 0-3 ODAC) closed out action at Prothro Natatorium this afternoon with action against Hollins University (5-2). The Vixens fell to the visitors, 152-41.
In the 200-meter medley relay, the team of sophomores
Emily Carter (Kermit, W. Va.),
Carlee Minyard (Jacksonville, Fla.) and
Geneva Seitz (Havre de Grace, Md.) and first-year
Ava Powers (Crandall, Texas) finished second with a time of 3:14.08. Seitz claimed third place in the 800-meter freestyle, clocking a time of 12:57.27. Carter secured third in the 100-meter backstroke with a 1:33.20 finish.
Sophomore
Karissa Boyce (Red Rock, Texas) stood out in the 200-meter butterfly, earning a first-place victory with a time of 4:53.69. In the sprint events, Carter took second in the 50-meter freestyle at 39.73, while Powers finished fourth at 41.57, and fellow first-year
Gracie Sheridan (Waynesboro, Va.) was fifth at 44.87. Powers also earned third place in the 100-meter freestyle, swimming 1:43.39, just ahead of Minyard, who was next in fourth at 1:43.42. Seitz turned in an impressive second in the 100-meter butterfly with a swim of 1:38.50, and Boyce added points with fourth in the same event at 2:12.93. The Sweet Briar College 200-meter freestyle relay team, Sheridan, Carter, Minyard and Boyce, closed out the meet with a second-place finish, posting a time of 3:07.71.
