SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College tennis team (6-3, 3-0 ODAC) remained perfect in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action this afternoon as it fought to a 5-2 victory over the Virginia Wesleyan University Marlins (3-4, 1-2 ODAC).
The Vixens fell behind following the conclusion of doubles play with the lone victory coming from the No. 1 team of Guilarte/Patino who won their match against Flink/Hafermann, 6-2.
Sweet Briar bounced back in singles after taking victories in five out of six matches.
Senior
Ana Patino (Medellín, Colombia) concluded her No. 1 match against Tuva Flink swiftly with a 6-0, 6-4 win while junior
Alex Guilarte (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) was right behind her with a straight-set 7-5, 6-2 take down of Meena Lennon at No. 3.
Sophomore
Juliana Caracciolo (Los Cardales, Argentina) kept the victories going for the Vixens battling to a 7-6 (8-6), 7-5 win over Zoe Vliegen at No. 2.
The match was clinched thanks to sophomore
Isadora Lima's (Natal, Brazil) No. 4 victory. The Brazil native saw a three-set 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3) defeat of Lina Hackner.
Fellow sophomore
Maggie Minton (Wytheville, Va.) rounded out the five points for Sweet Briar with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 win over Sarah Reich at No. 6.
Junior
Lucia Bovard (Mount Pleasant, N.C.) fought hard in her No. 5 match, coming back from a tough 6-7 (3-7) loss in set to take set two, 6-4, before ultimately falling in set three.

- Sweet Briar has not lost a match to Virginia Wesleyan since the 2019 season.
- Today's singles victories marked the seventh win of the dual season for both Lima and Patino.
