SWEET BRIAR, Va. - The Sweet Briar College Riding Program is excited to announce a new member of its instructional team. Shannon Ferguson will be teaching a variety of courses this year, her main focus being maintaining recreational opportunities for all students.
Shannon has more than 20 years of experience in the equestrian industry and prides herself on creating sound, fit, happy horses and educated riders.
As a professional, Shannon has provided top-level instruction to students at the local and national level of show hunters and equitation. Through her own riding, Shannon ensures that the horses she works with are able to help students reach their goals and expectations by being trained, are sound, and have proper fitness.
Shannon has worked with numerous well-known professionals including Oliver Brown, Meg Graham, Glenn Moody, Chris Wynne, Zach Parks, Jason Berry and Anne Kursinski. She has trained and ridden an international Hunter Futurity Champion and a VHSA 3-year old Champion, while training Ariat Medal finals qualifiers, VHSA Equitation winners and numerous horses and riders.
The Sweet Briar College Riding Program is excited to welcome Shannon and is confident that her background in teaching riders of all levels and training young horses will blend well with its goals and mission.
