SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Brian Hensley, head coach of the Sweet Briar College softball program, has been elevated into a new role: Associate Director of Athletics for Facilities and Operations, the College announced today, August 21st.
Along with retaining his head coaching duties, Hensley will now oversee facility operations, event management, game operations, external relations and scheduling and be a part of the leadership team on the athletics department administration.
"This promotion is a reflection of Brian's tireless dedication—not only to rebuilding a strong and competitive softball program, but also to caring for and maintaining our facilities at a high standard," said Sweet Briar Director of Athletics, Donna Hodgert. "His commitment goes beyond the field; he has developed a strong professional network that will serve our department well, bringing new opportunities and resources to our student-athletes. We are excited to see the impact he will continue to make in this new role."
Under his new title, Hensley's day-to-day tasks will include; overseeing the day-to-day operations and scheduling of Sweet Briar's athletic and recreational facilities, collaborating with buildings and grounds for regular maintenance of athletics fields, coordinating setup, tear down and supervision of home athletics events and special events hosted in the athletic facilities, developing and maintaining shared facility schedules in coordination with the local schools, clubs and community partners and assisting with the preparation of bid materials and serve as tournament director for NCAA/ODAC postseason events hosted by Sweet Briar.
As a member of the athletics leadership team, Hensley will support strategic planning and department-wide initiatives, manage facility budgets, track expenditures and plan for capital improvement projects and lead the planning and coordination of athletic facility upgrades and long-range development.
