Soccer Tripped Up by Hollins
SWEET BRIAR, Va –The Sweet Briar College soccer team (4-3, 0-2 ODAC) took on Hollins University (3-4, 1-1 ODAC) in a tough match up at Meyer Field, falling by a score of 5-1.
In the first half, the Vixens matched Hollins with early attacking intent but struggled to convert chances. Despite the early offensive pressure from both teams, Hollins broke through in the 29th minute scoring twice in quick succession. Hollins added two more goals before halftime, making the score 4-0.
When play resumed for the second half, Sweet Briar demonstrated renewed determination and managed to generate nine shots and eventually capitalizing with a goal. Junior
Emily Michel (Centennial, Colo.) scored for the Vixens, assisted by sophomore
Electra McPherson (Madison Heights, Va.), narrowing the deficit to 4-1. Hollins responded later in the half, adding a final goal to cement their lead at 5-1.

- Junior Alexis Diaz (Connelly Springs, N.C.) led the team in shots and shots on goal.
- McPherson recorded her first assist of the season.
- Michel recorded her fifth goal of the season matching her career high.

The Vixens will see action at Randolph College on Oct. 1st before hosting Randolph-Macon College on Oct. 4th.
