FOREST, Va. – Junior goalkeeper
Reiyn Hart (Bridgton, Maine) of the Sweet Briar College field hockey team has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced today, Oct. 26th.
Hart spent 145+ minutes in goal last week for the Vixens as they defeated EMU, 2-1, in overtime before falling to Batten in penalty strokes.
Over the course of the two games, Hart made 17 saves while only allowing one goal during regulation time. Additionally, Sweet Briar's game against Batten marked the first time since 1996 that the Marlins were held scoreless during regulation play.
The Maine native currently leads the conference in saves per game with an average of 11.79 while also ranking sixth in the nation in the statistical category, according to the NCAA's data through 13 of the 14 games contested so far this season.
This marks the first weekly honor for Hart in her collegiate career.
The Vixens will wrap up the season this week with their final home game on Wednesday against Roanoke before heading to Meredith on Saturday.
