SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. – The Sweet Briar College IHSA team was named High Point Team after the first of back-to-back shows hosted by Mary Washington.

The Vixens' strong showing was highlighted by first-years Sarah Chapin (Jamestown, N.C.) and Josie Flannery's (Orange, Va.) tie for High Point Rider. Flannery earned the title following a horsemanship question, while Chapin was crowned Reserve High Point Rider.

Flannery placed first in open flat and open fences as Chapin topped the intermediate flat and intermediate fences classes to cause the tie.

Also earning first-place finishes for Sweet Briar were junior Sunny Iskra (Lakeland, Fla.), sophomore Emily Viger (Springfield, Va.) and first-year Tessa Hawks (Ashland, Va.). Iskra saw a first-place finish in pre-novice, while Viger and Hawks won the limit flat classes, respectively.

Junior Rory Breglio (Parker, Colo.) placed second in intermediate fences, as sophomore Natalia Alvini-Moore (Middletown, Del.) also saw a second-place finish in novice.

Rounding out the top-three finishes for the Vixens were first-years Sadie Swift (Leonardtown, Md.) with third in both open flat and open fences, and Cameron Hope (White Stone, Va.), who finished third in limit flat.

Senior Leah Partington (Richmond, Va.) and junior Madeleine Gardephe (New York, N.Y.) captured fourth in novice and introductory, respectively.

First-Year Vivian Kosal (Washington, Mich.) came fifth in intermediate flat at her first collegiate showing.

Highlights

• Flannery qualified for Regionals in open flat and open fences, and Swift earned her qualification in open fences.
• Hawks also added a second-place finish in the limit fences class.

The Vixens will be right back at it tomorrow with Mary Washington's second show of the weekend.
