WINCHESTER, Va. – The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team (0-13, 0-7 ODAC) was handed a 20-0 loss at the Shenandoah University Hornets (10-6, 5-2 ODAC) this afternoon.
Shenandoah opened the scoring just over a minute into the game, and from there the first quarter became a steady run of goals, pushing the margin to 5-0.
The second quarter continued in the same direction, although Sweet Briar briefly forced Shenandoah into a few longer possessions and drew a handful of saves from sophomore
Larkin Shire (Carolina County, Va.). Sweet Briar's best moments came in defensive effort and a few clears, but it could not generate a shot on frame in the opening half.
In the third quarter, Shenandoah picked up right where it left off. Sweet Briar continued to battle late, and Shire made several more saves to keep the score from growing even larger.
Highlights
- Shire totaled six saves in goal.
- First-year Lyndsay Davis (Mocksville, N.C.) led the team with three draw controls.
