SWEET BRIAR, VA – The Sweet Briar College volleyball team (0-13, 0-3 ODAC) was tripped up by Hollins University (2-10, 1-4 ODAC) this evening at Williams Gymnasium, falling in three sets by set scores of 25-9, 25-17, and 27-25.
In the opening set, Hollins took control early with a strong offensive attack. First-year
Nadia Bingham (Chesapeake, Va.) and first-year
Addy Phillips (Stafford, Va.) recorded a kill to help keep the Vixens competitive. Hollins ultimately took the first set 25-9.
The Vixens recorded five kills in the second set with sophomore
Rachael Hunt (Willow Spring, N.C.) posting three kills to lead the attack. First year
Kylee Cox (Paris, Ill.) and Bingham also added a kill throughout the set. Hollins eventually pulled away for a 25-17 victory.
Sweet Briar delivered its best effort in the third set, battling Hollins point for point in a 27-25 decision. The Vixens posted a match-high 10 kills in the set and produced eight tie scores and three lead changes across the frame. Sweet Briar pushed the set beyond regulation and nearly forced a fourth set before Hollins closed out the final two points to complete the sweep.

- Bingham and Hunt recorded a season-high three service aces.
- Phillips recorded the first service ace of her career.
