HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Sweet Briar College cross country team kicked off its 2026 season this evening with action at EMU.
Sophomore
Elaina Sherline (Morehead City, N.C.) led the Vixens, crossing the finish line in 11th place in 21:21.0 for a new personal best.
Junior
Lucy Pettigrew (South Lake, Texas) followed, finishing 19th in 24:15.1.
First-year Josephine Crawford (Hampton, Va.) recorded a time of 26:37.8 in her first collegiate race to round out the field for Sweet Briar.
Highlights
- Sherline recorded the third-fastest time in program history, less than one minute off the school record.
- Tonight's race marked Pettigrew's first as a Vixen.
What's Next
The Vixens will compete at the SU Twilight Open on Sept. 11th.
