Seniors Melissa Carron (Grosse Pointe, MI) and Sara Sheppard
(Virginia Beach, Va.) led the way today for the Vixens to collect
their second win of the season. Each senior had a goal as the
Vixens beat Transylvania 3-1 in the last home game of the
season.
Transylvania got on the board first, scoring on a scramble in
front of the cage. First year goalkeeper Lori Kirkland (Glen Allen,
Va.) had a great day in goal only allowing one goal.
It was junior Lindsay Eneguess (Peterborough NH) who scored the
first goal for the Vixens. Her goal came off a chip shot from the
upper right top of the circle. The fight continued to go back and
forth but the first half ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Vixens entered the second half with new vigor and
determination. Melissa Carron scored the game winning goal from
another battle in front of the cage. She was assisted by sophomore
Ariel Yoder (Winston-Salem, N.C.). The last goal of the game
came off a stroke from Sara Sheppard. “It was a great
way to end the home season on Thayer Field, to go out with a hard
fight and a win,” said Coach Lamina.
The Vixens are back in action for their last game of the season
when they travel to Randolph-Macon Ashland next Saturday.
Game time is set for 2 PM.
