SWEET BRIAR, Va. --- The Sweet Briar field
hockey team wrapped up the home portion of their 2011 schedule this
afternoon taking on Shenandoah University, in an Old Dominion
Athletic Conference match at Thayer Field. After a tightly
contested first half, the Hornets scored two late goals to pull
away with a 4-0 victory.
Amber VanHorn ('13/Slatedale, Pa.) scored the first goal of the
day for the Hornets in the 16th minute. She took a pass from
an inserted penalty corner and drove the ball inside the far corner
for her third goal of the season.

pretty play in the crease. However, Ashley Cross ('14/Agawam,
Mass.) was able to add an insurance goal in the 48th minute.
Two late goals from Sarah DeLuca ('13/Clarksville, Md.) accounted
for the final score.

Wilson (Orange, Va.) made 14 saves in 63 minutes of play.
Junior Brooke Scott

Sweet Briar. The goalkeepers again led a strong defensive
effort for the Vixens led by seniors Ariel Yoder
(Clemons, N.C.) and Maggie
McNamara (Arlington, Va.). Adelaide

adding her third defensive save of the season.
