Hollins Holds Off Sweet Briar

Roanoke, Va. --- Hollins Univeristy held off Sweet Briar College in Old Dominion Athetlic Conference women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.  The hosts netted a goal in the first half and added an insurance tally in the final frame to take the win from SBC. 

In the 13th minute Hollins broke a scoreless tie with a goal from Becca Logan (Culloden, W.Va./Hurricane).  SBC could not find the equalizer and the half ended with Hollins up 1-0.  In the opening minutes of the second half, Sarah Poole (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) put the hosts up for good scoring of an assist from teammate Maran O'Neill (Bedford, Va./Liberty).

Kevin Fabulich, SBC Head Soccer Coach, noted that "while I am disappointed with the final result, I am happy about the chances we created.  Our young team continues to develop down the stretch."

Marissa McCord (Asheville, N.C./T.C. Roberson) placed a shot on goal for the Vixens, but the shot was saved by Hollins keeper Brandi  Chesne (Hammond, La./Northlake Christian) .  In net for SBC, Katherine Tillson Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) turned away 14 of 16 shots faced.

The Vixen side returns to action on Thursday, October 18 when SBC hosts Roanoke College.
