Field Hockey Season Comes to a Close

Box Score

SWEET BRIAR, Va. --- The 2012 Vixen Field Hockey season came to a close on Thursday afternoon at Thayer Field.  On a gorgeous afternoon on the SBC campus, Sweet Briar hosted #17 Lynchburg College.  The Hornets upended the Vixens by a final score of 13-0.

Lindsay Leonard (Yorktown, VA / Grafton), leading scorer in the ODAC, got things started for the Hornets, scoring less than three minutes into the game.  That goal would be the eventual game winner for Lynchburg.

Goalkeeper Katie Torretti (Lemon Grove, Calif. / Bishops School) had another double digit save performance in net.  She made 15 saves in her 70 minutes of action.  Torretti was aided by sophomore defender Kiera Cavalleri (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Bishop Kearney) who recorded a defensive save 20 minutes into the first half, knocking away a shot from Leonard.

Sweet Briar congratulates senior Alyssa Berkeley (Lynchburg, Va. / Heritage), who competed in her final game for Vixen Field Hockey.  Thank you, Alyssa!
