Box Score

SWEET BRIAR, Va. ---  The Vixen Field Hockey team hosted Shenandoah University on Saturday afternoon at Thayer Field in a conference showdown.  The Hornets were able to defeat the Vixens by a 4-0 final.

Senior goal keeper Brooke Scott (Kemah, Tex./Episcopal) got the start in goal and turned in a strong performance.  Scott turned away 16 scoring chances from the Hornets in her 67 minutes of action.  First year Skylar Rowan (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) finished the game in goal, facing no shots in her three minutes in the cage.

Midfielder Rachel Lenihan (Westport, Conn./Joel Barlow) played well for the Vixens on both ends of the field.  Fellow first-year Allison McLamb (Ellicott City, Md. / Howard) also played a standout game in the midfield for Sweet Briar.

The Hornets were led by junior Ashley Cross (Agawam, Mass./Agawam).   Cross scored the first goal of the game with just over a minute remaining in the first half.  In the second stanza, Cross assisted on two goals for SU.

Sweet Briar returns to Thayer Field on Tuesday afternoon, when they host Washington and Lee University in a 4:45 p.m. match.
