Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. --- In a contest that started an hour earlier than originally scheduled due to inclement weather passing through the Shenandoah Valley, Sweet Briar College matched up with Bridgewater College on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
While SBC took the game's first shot, the Vixen side never quite found its rhythm on Jopson Field. Sweet Briar forward Chelsea Daniels (St. Agustine, Fla./Pedro Mendendez) fired two strikes against the Eagles defense, but the attempts sailed just high each time.
Nina Kappel (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) and company had a busy day on the backline. The BC attack proved too much and the home team added to its four-goal half time lead to upend the visiting Vixens 10-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
SBC goalie Kat Day (Clifton Forge, Va./James River) posted four saves on 90 minutes of play. BC keepers Stephanie Bebko (Ephrata, Pa. / Ephrata Senior) and Kelsey Hecker (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) split time in goal for the Eagles.
With the result, the Vixen record moves to 2-2-1 overall and 0-2 in league matches. BC improves to 4-3 and 2-0 on the year.
Vixen Soccer returns to the friendly confines of Babcock Field on Saturday, September 28. SBC entertains ODAC foe Randolph-Macon College at 12:30 p.m. as part of the College's Founders' Day festivities. The next day, Sunday, September 29, Founders' Day Weekend athletics events continue as field hockey hosts ODAC opponent Virginia Wesleyan College at 2:30 p.m. on Thayer Field.
