Box Score The Sweet Briar College soccer team grabbed its second straight win, beating Christendom 3-1 on the road Saturday.
Kayla Kishbaugh led the Vixens with a goal and two assists, while fellow sophomore Emily Welch added a goal and an assist. First-year Patricia Garrett also scored, with the trio tallying points in each of the opening two games of this season.
Kishbaugh opened the scoring in the 25th minute, finishing off a pass from Welch.
She then assisted Garrett late in the half to give the Vixens a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
Welch tallied the Vixens' third, with Kishbaugh crossing in from the wing.
Sweet Briar had success attacking wide all day with wing players Kishbaugh, Ashley Federico and Stephanie Scott.
Starting center midfielders Alicia Wooten, Kaila Beale and Garrett controlled the middle throughout the game as well.
The defensive line of Scott, Kelsey Barta, Marissa McCord and Jaden Nichols was solid against a very direct Crusaders attack, allowing only a pair of shots on goal.
Christendom's Bridget Handy did beat the offsides trap once for the hosts, slotting past SBC goalie Katie Tillson to cut the final score to 3-1.
The Vixens totaled 21 shots, forcing Crusader goalie Madeline Hill into seven saves.
Sweet Briar (2-0) will hold its home opener on Wednesday, 5 p.m. vs. Trinity (D.C.).
