BALTIMORE- A 2-1 halftime lead wasn't enough for the Sweet Briar College field hockey team as they fell 5-3 to Notre Dame of Maryland University on Wednesday afternoon.

Goals from Reba Gagne and Kayla Dooms helped overcome the Gators opening goal and gave the Vixens a 2-1 halftime cushion. Hannah Oybkhan recorded assists on both goals.

10 minutes into the second half, Megan Morales tied the game up for the Gators. She was responsible for scoring all five goals for NDMU. The Vixens would retake the lead, 3-2, a couple minutes later when the Gators scored an own goal while trying to clear out of their defensive end.

Both teams registered 16 shots on goal and the Gators held an edge in corners, 14-11.

Oybkhan led the Vixens with five shots, four on goal, to go with her pair of assists. Dooms also tallied four shots, with all of her attempts forcing Gators keeper De'Ja Martin into making stops.

Defensively, Katie Torretti registered her sixth double-digit save game of the season with 10 saves. Eve Mergenthaler also registered her sixth defensive save of the season.

The Vixens will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 25 when they travel to Bethany (WV) for a 4:30 p.m. start.
