Vixens Travel To Bethany For Sunday Afternoon Contest

BETHANY, W.Va.- Playing its final road game of the season, the Sweet Briar College field hockey team came up short in a loss to the Bethany College (WV) Bison, 9-0.

Natalie Knauer scored the first two goals for the Bison on way to their 6-0 halftime lead.

Even Mergenthaler registered three defensive saves for the Vixens to bring her career total up to 50. Amanda Terry and Reba Gagne also collected defensive saves to help the Vixens defensive efforts.

In goal, Katie Torretti tallied 13 saves for her seventh double-digit save game of the 2015 campaign.

Sweet Briar will wrap up its season on Saturday at noon when Ferrum College visits Thayer Field. Before the start of the game, the Vixens will honor the contributions of Gagne, Jess Heiser, Hannah Oybkhan, Megan Johnston, Mergenthaler, Molly Van Buren, and Torretti, the team's seven graduating seniors.
