Box Score CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- Wilson College shocked Sweet Briar early in today's field hockey game and the Vixens were never able to gain any ground, as they fell 5-0 to open the Wilson College Invitational.
Kari Lehman, the leading scorer for the Phoenix, netted three goals in the opening five minutes, two coming in the first minute, to immediately put the Vixens in a hole that they ultimately would not be able to overcome.
After that initial shock, the Vixen locked down defensively and would go into halftime down 3-0. Katie Torretti was busy all day and registered seven saves in the first half.
Lehman would add her fourth goal of the game, and seventh of the season, later in the second half to secure the Phoenix's winning margin.
Torretti finished with 12 saves and faced 23 total shots. Reba Gagne, who registered one shot on goal, led the Vixens offensively.
It will be a quick turn around for the Vixens, as they'll play in the 11 a.m. consolation game tomorrow versus Keuka College, who fell 10-0 to Kean University in the other opening round matchup of the Wilson College Invitational
