Box Score FERRUM, Va.- The Sweet Briar College field hockey team played their first of four games in a week with a non-conference battle at Ferrum College. The host Panthers topped the Vixens, 10-0.
The Vixens played a tough first half by only allowing three goals. The Panthers scored in the eighth minute and then the Sweet Briar defense shut them down until the 31st minute.
For the first time all season, senior Kayla Dooms played in goal for the Vixens. The Nelson County Va. native played all 70 minutes in cage and made six saves.
The Vixens earned two penalty corners in the match, but were unable to turn them into goals. Junior Rachel Rogers led the Vixens in shots.
The Vixens will return home and play Eastern Mennonite University on Tuesday, Oct. 25, starting at 4 p.m. This match was originally scheduled to be played on Oct. 8th, but was postponed due to rain.
Senior Day for the Vixen field hockey team will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 29, when they host Randolph-Macon College. The match is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start, with Senior Day festivities taking place beforehand.
