SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Sweet Briar field hockey (7-5, 3-1 ODAC) was bested by former ODAC rival Randolph-Macon (8-4, 3-1 ODAC) 4-0 on Wednesday night.
The first of four games in the week for the Vixens, the team came out ready to play holding the Yellow Jackets scoreless in the first quarter. However, Randolph-Macon would pick up the intensity in the second, scoring two goals in the final ten minutes to go up 2-0.
The Yellow Jackets doubled that lead in the third quarter and a scoreless fourth would end the game with a 4-0 victory for Randolph-Macon.
Highlights
- First-year Ashley Maggiora (Hollister, Calif.) recorded a career-high eight saves during her time in goal.
- Senior Janie Bolling (Hereford, Md.) took over in goal for the final 12 minutes, making one save and continuing to hold the Yellow Jackets scoreless in the quarter.
