Morrisville, N.Y. – Sweet Briar field hockey (10-5, 3-2 CSAC) concluded its three-game road trip with a 3-1 victory over the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs (3-9, 0-5 SUNYAC) on Sunday, Oct. 17.
The Vixens were lightning fast in the first-ever matchup between the two programs with first-year
Kailey McCarthy (Atkinson, N.H.) beating the Mustang's goaltender less than two minutes into the match on a well-executed penalty corner play.
SUNY Morrisville would come back to tie the match, but sophomore
Avery Jones' (Union, Conn.) successful penalty stroke reinstated Sweet Briar's one goal lead.
First-year
Jolin Daughety (Williamsburg, Va.) found Jones for her second goal of the day in the second quarter and a scoreless second half would bring the game to a 3-1 close.
